David P. Thompson, Ph.D., is Principal Consultant in Thompson Education Consulting Group, LLC (TECG). He received his B.S. (Physical Education), M.S. (Educational Administration),and Ph.D. (Educational Administration) from Texas A&M University. For his doctoral dissertation, titled “Job Satisfaction: A Synthesis of Research in the Educational Administration Quarterly”, David received outstanding dissertation awards from both Division A (Administration) of the American Educational Research Association and the National Council of Professors of Educational Administration.
David is closing in on 40 years of experience in public education at both the PK-12 and higher education level, having served as a mathematics teacher and golf coach in the Lamar(Texas) Consolidated Independent School District, a high school assistant principal in the Spring (Texas) Independent School District, and a faculty member and department chair at both The University of Texas at San Antonio (where he currently serves) and Texas A&M University-Commerce. Among other offices, he has twice served as President and Executive Board Member of the Texas Council of Professors of Educational Administration, Chair of the Law & Education Special Interest Group of the American Educational Research Association, co-editor of the Education Law Association’s School Law Reporter, member of the Texas Association of School Administrators Higher Education Committee, and member of the Editorial Advisory Committees of West’s Education Law Reporter, the
Texas School Administrator’s Legal Digest, and the
Education Law & Policy Review. In 2008, David was named an Outstanding Alumnus of the College of Education and Human Development at Texas A&M University.
David has authored or co-authored over 110 publications and nearly as many state and national presentations, and his works have appeared in such journals as West’s Education Law Reporter, the Journal of School Leadership, Educational Administration Quarterly, the Texas School Administrators’ Legal Digest, and the Journal of Law & Education. He is co-author of "Professional Responsibility for Educators and the Texas Code of Ethics," which was published in its second edition in 2011 by Omni Publishers, Inc
.
David has academic preparation and/or experience in providing high-quality professional development on legal and ethical issues for educators, expert witnessing on issues of education law and standards of care, and evaluating educational programs. His unique combination of knowledge, professional experience in both K-12 and higher public and private education, and outstanding human relations skills provide a rich base for the services that TECG offers.
D’Anne Thompson, M.S., is Managing Partner of Thompson Education Consulting Group. She received her B.S. in Nutrition from Texas State University-San Marcos and her M.S. in Curriculum & Instruction from Texas A&M University. D’Anne has a variety of professional experiences, including co-teacher at KIPP Un Mundo Dual Language Academy in San Antonio; adjunct faculty at Texas A&M University-Commerce; Co-owner of TLC Catering, LLP; Research Assistant for Project Heartbeat at The University of Texas School of Public Health; and Graduate Assistant in the Center for Math & Science Education at Texas A&M University, where she prepared and conducted professional development workshops for elementary science teachers.
As the co-parent of an adult child with a disability, D'Anne is a active at the state level in reforming the guardianship process for parents of profoundly intellectually disabled children.
